Privacy policy
Last updated: 11 August 2026
This policy explains what personal information KitchenVis collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have written it in plain language on purpose.
Who we are
KitchenVis ("we", "us") operates this website and the KitchenVis kitchen visualisation service. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) we are the responsible party, and for the purposes of the UK/EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are the data controller for the information described here.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at privacy@kitchenvis.ai.
What we collect
| Information | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, role, and anything you write in the message field | To reply to your enquiry and tell you about early access | Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) / consent under POPIA |
| Technical data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring site | To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and understand traffic | Legitimate interests (site security); consent for analytics cookies |
| Photographs you upload, if and when you use the visualiser | To generate your kitchen visualisation | Your consent |
We ask that photographs you upload contain no people. Our system automatically screens uploads and rejects images where a person or face is detected, so that we do not process biometric or other special-category information.
Cookies and analytics
The site sets no analytics or advertising cookies until you agree to them. If you accept, we use:
- Google Analytics 4 — to understand how many people visit and which pages they read.
- Google Ads — to measure which adverts led to an enquiry.
We operate Google Consent Mode, so these tools receive no identifying cookies unless you have consented. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Strictly necessary cookies, which keep the site working and secure, are always active.
How long we keep it
Enquiry details are kept for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, then deleted. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Security logs are kept for 90 days. If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf under contract:
- Microsoft Azure — hosting and storage.
- Google — analytics and advertising measurement (only with your consent).
Some of these providers operate outside South Africa, the UK and the EU. Where information is transferred across borders we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, including standard contractual clauses, and we satisfy ourselves that the recipient is subject to comparable protection as required by section 72 of POPIA.
How we protect it
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Information you submit is stored encrypted, access is restricted to the people who need it, and secrets are held in a managed key vault rather than in code. We keep the public site deliberately separate from our production systems.
Your rights
Under POPIA and the GDPR you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, or restrict what we do with it;
- stop sending you marketing, at any time;
- withdraw a consent you previously gave, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
Email privacy@kitchenvis.ai and we will respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you may complain to the South African Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za), or, if you are in the UK or EU, to your local supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
This site is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you directly where the change is significant.
